These are separate conditions. A free membership can still require a login, and a subscription-free machine can still depend on a companion device for some features.

Ask the seller to demonstrate the exact workout you want under the relevant conditions. For a simple session, that might mean starting from the console, changing resistance and viewing time without opening an app. For someone following coached sessions, the content library and compatible screen may be central to the purchase.

Check the startup routine

Imagine starting an ordinary session several months after purchase. Count the steps needed to reach a basic workout and determine whether another household member can do the same. Look for a clear way to change settings, end a session and return to the basic screen. Ask how updates are handled and whether the manufacturer documents offline operation. If you prefer a dedicated display with a few controls, additional app features may have little value. If guided content is central to your plans, test that workflow as carefully as the equipment’s physical fit.

Decide which records need to survive the purchase

If you keep training records elsewhere, verify the exact export or synchronization function you use. “Bluetooth” alone does not identify supported data, sensors or apps. Check the named device and service, and separate an included connection from any paid feature needed to use it.

Price the experience you intend to keep

Record the trial end date, ongoing membership cost if selected, included screen or tablet requirement, and the functions available after cancellation.
