Start with the opening through the plate
The bore is the center opening that passes over the sleeve. It is different from the plate's outside diameter, thickness, and the diameter of the bar's gripping shaft. Many standard bars accept one-inch plates. Olympic-compatible bars generally use sleeves around 50 mm, with plate bores slightly larger to allow sliding. Fit is a pair of dimensions

Check specialty bars and loading posts separately

Likewise, a storage post can be intentionally smaller than the bore to make loading convenient. That does not mean it shares the same collar requirements as a lifting bar. Verify the plate, post, and retaining method as a complete combination rather than treating any two-inch label as sufficient.
